Privacy notice#
This notice explains how UK SQE Course ("we", "us") uses personal data when you use uksqecourse.com. We are the controller of the personal data described here and we process it under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Contact: support@uksqecourse.com (put "Data protection" in the subject).
UK SQE Course is an independent SQE preparation provider. We are not affiliated with, endorsed or accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or Kaplan SQE. We do not register candidates for the SQE and cannot guarantee exam results.

We do not collect more than we need and we do not sell your personal data.
2. Marketing choices are separate#
Marketing emails are off unless you opt in. You can change this at any time under Settings, Notifications, or with the unsubscribe link. Service messages about your account, purchases, security and changes to courses are not marketing and will still be sent.
3. AI features#
When you use AI features, the content you submit (for example a question you ask the tutor or an SQE2 answer you send for marking) is sent to our AI service provider to generate a response. We record a summary of each AI interaction, its purpose and the model used, so we can monitor quality and handle appeals. Staff do not read your private tutor conversations except where you raise an appeal or support request involving them, or where needed to investigate abuse or security issues. You can opt out of your data being used to improve AI quality in Settings. See the AI use policy.
4. Who we share data with#
- Service providers acting on our instructions: hosting and database, payment processing, email delivery and AI services.
- Instructors and markers: only the submissions you send for marking, or course-scoped information for courses you join. Instructors never see your private notes or AI conversations.
- Institutions: if your access is provided by a law school, employer or other institution, they receive only aggregate reports and the information described when you accepted your seat, and only where you agreed to share.
- Professional advisers, regulators, law enforcement or courts where the law requires it. We do not use your data for advertising and do not allow providers to use it for their own purposes.
5. International transfers#
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or equivalent safeguards.
6. How long we keep data#
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and study data | While your account is open, then deleted or anonymised within 90 days of closure |
| Orders, invoices and payment records | 7 years (tax and accounting obligations) |
| SQE2 submissions and feedback | While your account is open, unless you delete them earlier |
| AI interaction summaries | Up to 12 months |
| Support tickets | 24 months after closure |
| Security and audit logs | Up to 12 months, longer where needed for an investigation |
| Marketing consent records | For as long as needed to evidence your choice |
| Anonymised and aggregate statistics | Indefinitely (they are not personal data) |
7. Your rights#
Under UK data protection law you have the right to be informed, to access your data, to have it corrected, erased or restricted, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and not to be subject to solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. We do not make such decisions: AI feedback does not determine any official result and does not affect your access to the service. You can export and request deletion of your data from Settings, Data, or by emailing us. We respond within one month. If you are unhappy you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113); we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
8. Security#
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, role-based access controls, audit logging of staff decisions, and restrict staff access to what their role needs. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach is likely to risk your rights we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
9. Children#
The service is for people aged 18 or over and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Cookies#
See our cookie policy.
11. Changes#
We publish each version of this notice with its effective date. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell you in advance.
