AI tutor: what it can and cannot do
Where the tutor helps, where it is limited and how to get the best out of it.
1 min read · Last updated 10 Oct 2026
The AI tutor helps you understand a rule, question or explanation in your own words. It is designed for study support.
What it is good for
- Explaining a concept in a different way or with a different example.
- Checking whether you have understood why an option was right or wrong.
- Asking follow-up questions about a question you have just answered.
- Quizzing you on a topic in a conversational way.
What it cannot do
- It does not give legal advice and cannot advise on a real matter.
- It does not know your exam result and cannot predict whether you will pass.
- It can be wrong or out of date. The law changes, and AI output can sound confident when it is not. Always check against the rule or source linked in the platform.
- It does not replace an instructor, a textbook or the SRA's published information.
How we limit risk
Answers draw on approved content from our library where possible and show which items were used. Each response carries a reminder that it is educational. Usage may be limited by plan; see Usage in your account.
Getting better answers
Be specific: name the topic, quote the part you are unsure about and say what you already understand. If an answer looks wrong, report it from the response, and use the question's Report an error button if the underlying content seems wrong.
